Hola!!! I’m back from my absence with 30 days left of the whole race! Guatemala has been filled with peace, joy, growth and anticipation. We started off this country seeing our parents!! It was so awesome and made me look forward going home to them. Then we had our 3/4 debrief which was created to have room for processing and prepping. After this we stepped back into ministry! Team Summit is working with a group called Reigndom which is a program that works with kids ages 7-15. These kids have classes on English, Bible and PE (this is where we come in of course). The kids are split into three different age groups and my team and I go on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays! The schedule goes something like this:
Go to the reigndom house
⁃ worship and intercede
⁃ Go to the village
⁃ Half of us either prepare lunch or clean and do house visits
⁃ The kids arrive
⁃ We feed them then we are split into groups of dishes, cleaning and going to class
On Wednesdays we have something called the “Kings Table”! Which is a different location where we prepare breakfast and invite all the widowed and pull elderly off the streets to invite them in for a meal! After this we go to the village and have Bible club with our kids!
My time with the kids has truly been such a blessing. My favorite age group has been 10-13. The majority are boys but they are so playful and willing to learn. That has truly been so encouraging to see! God has expanded my compassion for these kids so so much comparing this country to Malaysia. I used to find it more of a burden, but He graciously softened my heart throughout each country.
It’s been such a joy to be back all squad! Although I do miss the intimate time I had with my team, we are learning new balances and the Lord is continuing to be steadfast and growing me gradually. Lately I’ve been getting hit with verses that the Lord is graciously putting in my head and they have been so specific to my circumstance! He is so awesome and I am constantly in awe that He finds me desirable and is so intentional with me. Looking to the end of the race honestly saddens my heart because I know that I will probably never be in the same place as all these 32 people again! This has made me grateful but also has caused me to combat disassociation from people I could be pursuing better. Gratefully the Lord is giving me stamina to pursue relation and giving me energy to keep pushing into ministry!
One of my favorite moments here was when we went to a house visit and we saw a boy who was completely crippled mentally which caused him to be crippled physically, he was 15 but looked about 8 and he lays in bed almost all day everyday. It’s so hard to look at that and still think that God has a plan and a purpose for his life (which of course He does). Anyways his sister allowed us to pray over him! I started to pray in English because I have more vocabulary and can think better but at some point during my prayer I started in Spanish and the Lord gave me so many words that I did not actually know prior! If you don’t know, I have almost no Biblical vocabulary in Spanish but this time I did!! PRAISE GOD! I don’t know whatever happened to the boy and his sister but I have faith that the Lord edified them both and are taking care of eachother as well as they can.
To close out my time here I want to be present, pursue and praise. Being present with the people I have. Pursuing deeper and new relationships. And praising the Lord for all that He has provided and will provide for in the future. I’ve been learning a lot about different names of God and my favorite is “El Roi” which is Hebrew for
“The God Who Sees” is SO is the God who sees and He sees all of you too!! I’m so excited to go home even though my heart feels heavy. Please be praying for discernment and strength as I’m getting close to being in a new chapter once again! Love you all ❤️
